Freebie Friday - Free green chevron little notes or tags printable!

How to print your own bookplate labels

Printing your own bookplates is easier than you think.

First --
You'll need a design.  Purchase a "printable" bookplate from a designer (like Lemon Tree Cards on Etsy).

Lemon Tree Cards offer two types of bookplate designs:

A- designs that print on pre-cut label sheets

and

B - designs that print on full sheets of uncut label stock


Both methods are easy enough for anyone to handle...but the designs that print on uncut label stock will need to be cut (by you) after printing.

Before you purchase a printable bookplate file, read the description carefully to determine which type of label stock you will need.

A - For designs that print on pre-cut label stock, you will need to know the size of the label needed and if possible, the product number.  Check around to be sure you are able to easily purchase this label stock before you purchase the design.   Many designers use Avery 5164 (4x3.33") labels because they can be found in most office supply and drug stores.  They are sometimes called "shipping labels."

B- For designs that print on full sheets of uncut label stock, I recommend you purchase an inexpensive paper cutter/trimmer.  These can be found in craft stores, office supply stores, etc. and will help trim your labels perfectly.  The full sheets of uncut label stock can easily be found in most office supply and drug stores.


Next --
Once you've decided on a design and made your purchase, the designer will email you a printable file containing a sheet of multiple labels, normally a PDF file.

What's a PDF?
If you do not know what a pdf is, don't panic. You will need a program called Adobe Reader installed on your computer to download this type of file.  Most computers already have the Adobe Reader installed.  If you do not, you'll find this out when trying to download the file.  Then go to:  http://get.adobe.com/reader/ and download the free program.   Now try to download your label file again.

Let's print!

Insert the correct label stock into your printer.  Set your printer for the highest quality print job (normally this is the photo setting.)  Then print.

A- If you printed on precut labels....you're finished.
B- If you printed on uncut label sheets, you'll now need to trim your labels.  It takes a little practice but you'll soon be cutting like a pro.  Try to trim a hair inside the print design so there is not white edge showing.

I personally prefer the uncut label sheets because it allows me to print any size bookplate label and since I am individually cutting them, I can tie them up into a neat little package like this...

Freebie Friday - Free printable journal spots!

I love creating journal spots!  These little guys can be printed on cardstock or full, uncut label stock. then simply trim with scissors or a paper trimmer.

Use them as you wish but please do not sell the printable file.  I do not mind if the physical label/sticker is used in something you sell!

Tips for printing your own invitations and paper products at home

We're selling more and more "print your own" invitations, stationery, labels and party items these days.

"Print your own" items are designed with custom wording, colors, etc. and then delivered to the customer via email as a jpg or pdf.

We sell many print your own items in our Etsy store and website.

Once you have the jpg or pdf, you are free to print at:
1.  a storefront printer or photo lab such as; Office Max, Staples, Walmart, etc.)
2.  an online print shop (mpix, walmart, etc.)
3.  or at home.

When printing at home, be sure to set your printer correctly for the best results.

Under your PRINT SETTINGS or PROPERTIES tab (this will show up after clicking the PRINT button), be sure to select:
1.  Quality - I use the TEXT & IMAGE setting
2.  Paper Option - I use the heaviest paper option (even if you're printing on labels)

Then under the ADVANCED tab, I click COLOR CONTROLS under COLOR MANAGEMENT.
3.  I then choose RGB under COLOR MODE
4.  And I choose the highest GAMMA setting

Your printer may not have all of the options mentioned above.  Just try to find as many as you can and experiment on practice paper before using your expensive cardstock and label stock!

IMPORTANT:  If you are printing an item with a design that prints all the way to the edges of the paper like this one below, you will need to set your printer for "PRINT TO EDGE."  Most printers have this option.  If not, your design will have a white margin around the design and you'll need to trim with a paper cutter or scissors.

Friday Freebie - Free Easter Hershey Nugget Wrappers

Friday Freebie - Easter Basket Address Labels

We're enjoying a late Winter snow storm here in Pennsylvania.

I'm not a Winter person. But I'm not letting this snow bother me.

Know why? 

Because it's Daylight Savings Time this Sunday! I look forward to this event every year!

And to help spread my Spring Fever to all of my blog readers, I'm kicking off a series of free Spring printables beginning today and running four consecutive Fridays!

Enjoy this sheet of Easter Basket (is that a Longaberger?) address labels.   This printable sheet will work with any program that allows you to print address labels. Size is 2.62x1" which is the standard address label 8160 by Avery (generic will also work!)

You will need to print this pdf directly onto a blank sheet of labels. Then you will need to run it through your printer again with your wording. Be sure to move your text over to allow room for the clipart. I would do a test run on plain paper first to be sure you have everything lined up correctly.
